Not sure I understand -- but WL isn't an operating system, it provides a 3D virtual environment, not a 2D desktop environment.

i know it's not os. i have kind of minimalistic os. what i wan to know is if i have window server (like x server), will wonderland serve as a window manager? (like gnome/kde etc.). probably not really mature one, but has it such a potential?

You may want to take a look at Looking Glass 3D instead: https://lg3d-core.dev.java.net/ (which is a no longer active project).

There are several desktops that have less overhead than gnome or kde. As
long as firefox will run, you could go that route. I'm running kubuntu
and I'm starting to suspect that the added layer of audio service with
phonon might be the cause of my problems. OTOH, if I install gnome, then
I wind up with the overhead of pulseaudio, which peforms worse, in
high-end games, IMHO. Linux is starting to become windows ...much to my
dismay. I think I'm gonna just ditch karmic and re-install to Hardy.
Wonderland is dead in the water on me, for no good reasons. I hate being
stalled, even after a fresh install of everything. So, I think you are
on the right track. Keep it minimal. Ric
