Hello 6uN users.
Since 1 year I have been hopping for a better 6uN.
I tryed perhaps all of them since 6u10, with sometimes with a good feeling.
Sometimes a really mixt one ......
The baselines is that :
- Flash is a top competitor (Thunder startup time)
- I think without all the work made for javaFx and new-Applet can't sell until a GREAT 6uN version.

Nevertheless some strange individuals like me do have personnal experience with it.
Yesterday I had a personnal one. I wrote about it on my blog.
Enjoy

On WinXP and JRE 6u17, I tried this

http://free-visit.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=14&Itemid=49

Works fine for me. I can use the 3D applet without problems.

The only time I got the red-x and applet won't load is when Java cache is disabled (you need to disabled it via java control panel), and then you will get this exception in console:

exception: Cache must be enabled for nativelib or installer-desc support.

This is expected, because we won't support nativelibs with cache disabled currently.

Please let us know if you see other problems when running this applet. Thanks.

Thank you for your help.
I think in overall it works fine with quasi all Windows XP-and-Vista version.

I am also betting a lot an the update 18 that will allow us to personnalise the "loading-java-waiting" screen. and seems to add a (true) quicker startup.

In overall I think jvm-improving-user-experience should be (and should have been) a very top prioriy at Sun.

From simple java application developer I wish to the few Sun developers wo patiently dig-and-test the jvm code to gain milliseconds at start up good wishes.
Men, perhaps your bosses do not fully understand but do not fool yourself, the work you are doing is hardcore important.
I think, java will ether bounce back or defenetly crash because of the quality of your job.
