"Next Generation" Plug-In Support for AMD64?

According to RFE #4802695, Sun has committed to a 64-bit Java Plug-in for the JDK1.7 (dolphin) release, but that was as of Jan '07. Back then, much of what was planned to be JDK1.7 eventually turned into 6uN, so my question is: with all this hype of the next generation plug-in, is there truly still no 64 bit plug-in support??

Please vote for 4802695. From an engineering standpoint, a 64-bit release of the deployment technologies (Java Web Start, Java Plug-In) is achievable at this point.

Hi tvolkert,
Good question! The decision has been made to make the 64-bit plug-in available in a JRE 6 update release. At this time we do not have a specific update release targeted, but would very much like the plug-in to be available in early 2009. The evaluation of bug that you cited has been has been updated to reflect this change.

Thank you for being patient and we look forward to your testing and feedback when we have a build available.
Thanks, Roger

There's a RC out and still no sign of 64-bit Java plugin. Will it really be in the final release?
