Hi All,

I have just read on this page http://www.blu-raydisc.info/license_app/javadocstubs_apps.php that a new license is available to access BD-J javadoc and classes stubs. I think it is a great news.
Does someone has more informations on the conditions (is it free, i think so but I 'd like to be sure) ?

Thanks in advance.

Youssef.

The license agreement you get when you send the BDA your fax
says "Confidential" on it, but I'd suggest you just send the
fax and read the document directly. Yesterday a business
I know sent in the fax, and he license agreement was sent back
within a couple of hours.

I should hear pretty quickly when the actual stubs arrive. The license
agreement in question wasn't sent in to the BDA by that business
until after business hours yesterday, FWIW.

Cheers,

Bill

Dear all,

I'm afraid I have some good news and some bad news.

The good news is that the API stubs were published - the company in question
has received them. The bad news is that they were only published in human-readable
HTML format. This is great for people who just want to read them, and who don't
mind shifting between separate documents when understanding the APIs. In terms
of human-readable content, this complements what's already available for the rest of the
platform (PBP 1.0 from jcp.org, GEM from MHP.org, etc.).

Unfortunately, with only the human-readable HTML documents, you're still stuck fishing
the right .class files out of some other source if you want to compile an xlet as part of
evaluating the platform for development. It's also really inconvenient to not have a
unified set of HTML javadocs, which you could produce if you had the source.

The BDA has been made aware of this error, and I'm sure it will be rectified. Unfortunately,
I'll be out for a couple of weeks starting soon, so I won't be able to give any sort of status
report here until late August.

Dear all,

Oops! It turns out my information source was wrong - the source to the org.bluray stubs
has, in fact, been published. This is Very Good News.

One caution to folks downloading them: Don't be distracted by the big yellow file folder icon into thinking that this is the only thing on the download page. Look further down the page to the blue word "Download" under the blue heading that says "download" :-)

When some of the non-BDA parts are available in a more convenient form, I'll write up a Wiki article on how to assemble the pieces, and I'll post an announcement here.

Cheers,

Bill
