Evaluation SDK not available on Linux

I really want to invest time in javafx. Except the "evaluation sdk" is only available under MacOSX, and Windows. What the hell is the point of making something "cross-platform" but favoring only commercial operating systems? Maybe we should all abandon Linux, go back to Windows and allow Redmond to decide what should be on our desktops, suffer many more years of flaky and unstable applications. I mean Corporations only change if something really hurts their bottom line. And me, as a developer and user, suffering through endless upgrade cycles does not hurt Sun & Kie.
If this post seems unnecessary emotional and offends someone. Just remember humans responds to emotions, and technology which does not touch and enhance the human experience ends up as useless.
Hopefully this post will evoke some kind of response from someone at SUN which really care about the bigger picture. Believe me, if I had a email of such a person I would have rather use it than this public forum.

wildfirexy, my response was quite similar. Like you I need a Linux version. Odd, isn't it, that there's not yet an SDK for Solaris.

The SDK is not offically available. You need to use the latest daily builds, check this thread:
http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5319279
Works fine for me on Ubuntu 8.04 / NetBeans 6.1 / JDK 6u10 b28.

I would like to second the emotional response. After all of the time and effort I have devoted to Sun and Java, including Java Ones and constantly talking up their technologies, including Java FX... To have them not even support Linux (whom their trying to embrace with their gpl2 licensing)... Java 6u10 isn't even being talked about for the Mac, but yet they release this for Mac... Steve Jobs says Java's a dinosaur and he doesn't want it on his iPhone and people embrace apple. I'm about fed up with it and this is just a slap in the face. And to further add to the ridiculousness of it, its not even offered on Solaris! I do not like the lack of direction on this. Think I'll just ignore JavaFX and tell others to ignore it as well. Its really an embarrassment.
I appreciate the links to the not released version, but I think I'm offended enough that I'm going to do something else instead. And to think I was going to focus on this technology...

So, what we have here is a Linux user complaining that he has to use the most recent (and not a several-week-old) version of a piece of software. Now I've seen it all

To what are you even referring? Your _oh so helpful_ link to openjfx which just has links to the already discussed ad nauseum sdk preview (windows and mac only) integrated with netbeans etc, etc. oh yeah and the base compiler... Thanks so much for your help, now we all know how to spell openjfx...
Or are you referring to the information in the much more informative link that Stefan provided? At least this actually provides a solution...
Of course the real point of all of this is that Sun provides a release of their new technology trying to win mindshare at the same time their trying to get mindshare for Solaris and get acceptance from the Linux crowd. Their best bet for any of this is probably to make their releases available to the open source communities in the same way they are releasing it to the proprietary frat houses. But Linux and Solaris are not even mentioned on their download pages.
Hey Spiffy, I'm sorry that you're so content with your proprietary operating system that you fail to see the problem here and instead rely on you outstanding wit to make your contributions, but maybe you can just keep your _oh so helpful_ rhetoric to yourself, hmmm? Sound good?

Ha ha, calm down. I am a Linux user and had no problem downloading and using nightlies (which you CAN get to from my "oh so helpful" link).
