Could you please post some sort of mission statement for JDICplus? At the present stage this project seems to be in the "stupid Java move of the week" category. What are you trying to achieve? Is this supposed to be platform-neutral eventually? Nobody and his dog cares about integrating Internet Explorer into anything. IE died when MS decided IE6 had crushed the competition and stopped development on that project. IE7 (what a failure!) and IE8 (vaporware?) don't even have native SVG support, a feature we simple take for granted in a modern browser. It would have been much more logical to integrate a browser that is available on most platforms, like Mozilla Firefox or - even better - Opera. Mozilla and Opera have demonstrated Java competence in the past. Opera even offers pure Java browsers for mobile phones. Please work with them to create a Java-integrated or pure Java browser.
Making peace with Flash is a good idea. I really didn't get the recent hype about creating the "coolest" web apps. Flash and Java are quite different platforms. Fighting Flash is a waste of energy.
However, the most important point is to make Java more attractive for Linux developers, because that's where the action is. People will be struggling to get their custom apps running on Linux. Don't waste that chance. Capture their imagination! KDE has decided to use SVG for GUI development - leveraging an established technology to create stunning results. There's a cunning plan!

Whatever the desktop - I think no matter how good Java is on the
server, no matter how much improvement recent JDKs have seen in terms
of desktop development, so far the idea of building a fully-fledged
cross-platform desktop application using Java seems to have blatantly
failed, unfortunately, as I had to learn the hard way wasting a day
trying to make my minimized-to-the-systray application actually
register some global keybindings to wake up on. No offense against the
might-be-benefits of having a tighter MSIE integration available to
Java developers - but wouldn't solving such basic enhancement requests
to allow for real cross-platform Java desktop development be a more
important thing to be done?

The project could really use a prominent statement that clarifies it's relationship to JDIC. The JDIC issue tracker has lots of RFEs. You don't want to give false hope to anyone.
