Hi, not really sure if this is the write place to ask this but i will anyway(if its not could someone point me in the write direction, cheers). Unlike Other JAIN SLEE implementations such as Open Clouds Rhino, Mobicents is obviously Open source, i am interested in asking how complete Mobicents is in your vision of how it will be when it is complete,

and also what sort of business play / goals do you have.

This is interesting when comparing to the likes of Open Cloud which is the type of company(small NZ based) that would benefit from being brought by a large international company, you can potentially see there reasons, they want to market their implementation to the large telecoms where there is lots of money to be made.

I am also interested in the main differences in how a JAIN SLEE SBB actually achieves the performance over a J2ee EJB component, i have read alot about the reasons for a special slee as in communications events VS Enterprise but never really come across how a SBB component is able to perform better,

on a side not i read somewhere on the here there was interest in a j2ee, ejb Vs JAIN slee comparison, i hope to have a chapter on this in my dissertation paper and can happily contribute it here when it is finished for reference.

I dont know about business issues.

As for applicability - there is more to Mobicents and the slee in general than big Telco. I think it applies to a wide variety of problems. We need help building such applications. If you have an interest and would like to contribute, please let us know.

Mobicents is at a Beta 1 level of readiness. We need lots of test cases to take it to the next level. Want to contribute ? Please read my other post about Failover Testing.

I will answer the performance questions that you have asked but you should ask again in jain-slee-interest. The main reason for improved performance of JSLEE vs. EJB (others please chime in) is achieved by (1) Not requiring disk persistance for persistant fields (2) Not mandating the use of JTA and not exposing transactions directly to application code. (3) Clearly defining the behavior with respect to transactions and serializability but leaving leaving open the implementation choices. Also you can implement SBBs as a wrapper around EJBs the programming model is deliberately close. However, this will result in poor performance.

I am interested in your comparitive paper. Do contribute it to the project.

Thank you for your interest.
