Google Talk - Jabber RA?

Google got on the VoIP bandwagon too. A few weeks after Yahoo! made their move.
http://www.google.com/talk/
The initial feedback I am hearing on Google Talk is:
Good: 1) Supports Jabber's XMPP, which is open source and well supported 2) Plans to implement SIP for IM and Voice 3) Supports many free clients.
Not so good: 4) Uses a proprietary extension to XMPP for voice, but it will be documented 5) Echo cancelation is not implemented yet
So, anyone interested to write a Jabber RA?

Ivelin,
we have developed a XMPP RA based on the Smack library (http://www.jivesoftware.org/smack/).
The Smack library was slightly changed to provide server side APIs. We'll come back with more news about this issue very soon.
Cheers

PCh,
This is so exciting to hear. The Smack library is under the ASL 2 license, which is compatible with LGPL.
Are you considering contributing your RA as a Mobicents sub-project? That will be awesome.
Hopefully Google will release the voice extensions to XMPP soon so that the RA can support both IM and Voice.

You might be right for IM about the gizmo project. But it seems that to place calls it uses SIP so I think it should be interoperable, I wonder if they are not using SIP for IM too...

Looks like the Gizmo client is not really free and open. It can be only used with the Gizmo network. Am I wrong?
